Since 2000 Mr. Saint-Girard has been recognized in Who’s Who In America and more recently in the International Who’s Who of Business Professionals for his many accomplishments in professional theatre, television and film. From child actor to adult producer / director / performer, his career has encompassed every facet of show business, and his theatrical knowledge is a combination of academia and on-the-job training. Born in New York City, he attended the Theatre/Drama Department of Fordham University under a New York State Regents' Scholarship. Additional education includes private voice study in Paris and Vienna, acting classes at Stella Adler's Conservatory and with Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof at HB Studios in New York. He has accumulated more than 35 years of dance training at various schools including the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and Chuck Kelly's and Phil Black's Studios.
Producing credits include his work as Artistic Director at Playhouse on the Green (formerly Polka Dot Playhouse), an AEA SPT theatre in Bridgeport, CT, presenting plays, musicals, children's theatre, educational programs and concerts including ARSENIC AND OLD LACE with Joan Copeland & Mia Dillon (also directed), Victor Herbert's BABES IN TOYLAND (also directed), THE MAGIC GARDEN with the original TV cast, Das Puppenspiel's PETER & THE WOLF, INTO THE WOODS, JR. and MACK THE KNIFE - THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF BOBBY DARIN. He was the Producer and Director/Choreographer of the Off-Off Broadway revival of the 1917 Jerome Kern musical LEAVE IT TO JANE at the Nameless Theatre, New York City. At Producer's Association of Real Theatre for Youth, Inc. (PARTY), an AEA TYA company in Darien, CT, he served as President & Producing Artistic Director and founded, operated and raised funding for this not-for-profit arts organization producing touring productions of quality theatre for youth including classic and original plays and musicals. In addition, he was Associate Director at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, a professional summer theatre employing AEA guest artists in Auburn, NY. There he collaborated on season choices, staffing and casting as well as directing and choreographing the majority of productions for three seasons including 42nd STREET with Jan Leigh Herndon, CABARET, MAME with Ginger Prince, INTO THE WOODS, CAMELOT, APPLAUSE and MY FAIR LADY.
Mr. Saint-Girard has numerous additional credits as a Director and Choreographer including the following: Lincoln Center revivals of STORY THEATRE and Jones' and Schmidt's CELEBRATION; an Off-Off-Broadway revival of SHE LOVES ME; Stock and Dinner Theatre productions of MAME with Kathryn Kendall, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN, UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN, HELLO, DOLLY!, GYPSY, CHICAGO, ON THE TOWN, OKLAHOMA and MUSIC MAN starring John Ritter; Regional productions of Samuel Taylor's A TOUCH OF SPRING at the Stamford Center for the Arts, CT, REEL MOOVIES! (original musical) at Sharon Playhouse, CT and WEST SIDE STORY at Queens Theatre-in-the-Park, NY. Directorial assignments in Children's Theatre include Humperdinck's HANSEL AND GRETEL, PINOCCHIO, SNOW WHITE, and SLEEPING BEAUTY. Additionally, he directed and authored original musical productions of ALICE IN WONDERLAND, SMALL WORLD, A GREEN SHOW, THE DOCTOR IS IN and RAINY DAY STORIES and served as Director of Theatre for Young Audiences at Gretna Theatre, PA and was responsible for the 1st Annual Gretna Gala Idol Competition. He has also had great success in the worlds of Opera and Ballet. His production of THE MAGIC FLUTE for the State Repertory Opera of New Jersey received critical acclaim and his libretto of THE RED SHOES was written for the Garden State Ballet.
As a performer he has appeared on Broadway in A CHORUS LINE, GREASE and SHENANDOAH, in National Touring companies of CAMELOT as Mordred, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC with Jean Simmons and Margaret Hamilton, OLIVER! with Vincent Price, GREASE and in the title role of PIPPIN. Regional Theatre audiences remember him for his portrayal of the boy in EQUUS with George Maharis and more recently as Pirelli in SWEENEY TODD. He has appeared in numerous Off-Off-Broadway, Dinner Theatre and Stock productions including FUNNY GIRL with Carol Lawrence, HELLO DOLLY! with Martha Raye, THE KING AND I with Ricardo Montalban and CABARET with Paige O'Hara. His special interest in Theatre for Youth developed when he performed as principal juvenile for the world renowned Prince Street Players while still in his teens. Other performing credits include assorted Television Pilots, Feature Films and scores of Commercials, as well as a brief stint as boy soprano with the New York City Opera at age twelve.
In his "spare" time, Mr. Saint-Girard has taught classes in Acting, Auditioning for Musical Theatre, and Dance at several studios in New York City and Connecticut. He was Director of Education at the Polka Dot Playhouse, an AEA SPT theatre in Bridgeport, CT where he conceived and produced the highly successful Summer Youth Theatre Workshop, an intensive four-week full time theatre program for 55 children ages 10 - 16. He also conceived and implemented the Playhouse ETC (Evening Theatre Classes) Program offered during the school year with classes in Acting for the Stage and Acting for TV Commercials. In 2007 he established the first full internship program for young theatre professionals ages 13-21 at Gretna Theatre, an 80 year-old professional Summer Theatre. He served as Director/Intern Coordinator of the program and was responsible for recruiting interns, staff and overseeing master classes taught by Broadway professionals.
His energy, enthusiasm and varied background account for his appointment to the Board of Advisors (along with Viveca Lindfors) of New York's Actor's Outlet Theatre Center in 1981, where he also served as Chairman of the Steering Committee in 1982 and 1983. He was the recipient of the Forestburgh Playhouse 1987 "Twiggy" Award for Best Choreography for their production of OKLAHOMA. Since 2007, Mr. Saint-Girard has also been the Casting Director for Gretna Theatre at Mt. Gretna, PA.
